Linda Lorgus is a musician with many years experience playing piano and organ, directing handbell and vocal choirs of children, youth and adults. From 1985 until 2006, Linda was Organist/Music Coordinator at Westminster Presbyterian Church, West Chester, where she accompanied the vocal choirs and directed the handbell choirs. Her handbell choirs performed at Longwood Gardens and many other local venues as well as Williamsburg, VA and Disneyworld’s Epcot Center. A member of the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, she rang with the Philadelphia Handbell Ensemble and now rings with the Bell Amis Handbell ensemble. Currently, Linda is Music Director and Organist at St. Michael Lutheran Church in Unionville, PA., where she directs five choirs including two handbell groups. She is also the accompanist/assistant director for the Upper and Middle School choirs at Westtown Friends School and teaches private piano and organ lessons. Her free-lance work includes accompanying for the Brandywine Valley Chorale, and several private voice studios. She has also accompanied many instrumental soloists including Barbara Prugh, Doug Wilfert, Carole Armstrong and Janet Witman and handbell soloists Ron Bellamy and Christine Anderson. Linda is the recording artist for Schulmerich Carillons, arranging and recording songs heard from the bell towers. She accompanies for the choral programs at Great Valley, East, Henderson and Unionville High Schools. She has also accompanied for the Youngstown Symphony Chorus and Orchestra, the National Association of Teachers of Singing vocal competitions, the Barley Sheaf Playhouse, Tri-county Youth Music Festivals, West Chester University and the Matinee Musical Club of Philadelphia’s Young Artist Concerts held at the Academy of Music and for instrumental Master Classes at the Kimmel Center. Linda holds a music degree from Westminster College where she majored in piano and organ performance. She studied organ with Marion Davis, Raymond Ocock and Robert Carwithen. She studied piano with Jane and Benjamin Whitten and Robert Hopkins.
